Badami Cave Temples:

The 6th century Badami Cave Temples are what this town is renowned for and must-visit on trip to South India. These temples are a testimony to the architectural excellence of the Chalukya rulers, who got them carved out of a red sandstone cliff. There are four main cave temples, out of which three are devoted to the Hindu faith and the fourth one to the Jain faith.

Cave 1 is dedicated to the Annihilator Lord Shiva, depicted in the form of dance God Nataraja. This magnificent sculpture has 18 arms, showcasing 81 dance poses. Caves 2 and 3 are dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the supreme creator, featuring intricate carvings and an imposing image of Trivikrama and massive sculptures of Narasimha and other forms of Lord Vishnu. Cave 4 is dedicated to Jain faith and the highlight here is the peaceful and tranquil image of Lord Mahavira.

Day 9: Badami – Hubli
