Deccan Odyssey- The Hidden Treasures of Gujarat

Have your succulent breakfast on board and then you will be arriving at Gaekwads, the capital city of Vadodara. Get down from the train and get ready to explore the beautiful city of Vadodara. Head to visit Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park which is known to be the UNESCO world heritage site and an only untouched Mughal Islamic city in India. The impressive landscape a picturesque beauty makes it a one stop destination for every kind of traveler. 
Then proceed to Jama Masjid the Great Mosque built in 1513. Witness the beautiful blend of Hindu and Muslim architecture which later on became the structure of mosque architecture in India. After exploring, make your way back to the train for your on board lunch. After lunch, move towards Maharaja Fateh Singh Museum which was once considered to be the school for Maharaja’s children. Now it is a paradise for art lovers and an interesting site to learn about ancient art. You can get to see varied display of art such as Raja Ravi Varma's paintings and collection of European masters. 
Later get ready to enjoy the delicious high tea at the magnificent Lakshmi Vilas Palace where the royal family of the city resides. This well known palace is almost 4 times the size of the Buckingham Palace and boasts of spectacular interiors. 
After the palace tour, sit with your fellow travelers and savour the royal delicacies whilst witnessing the folk performance of the region. Later get back to Deccan Odyssey for dinner and overnight stay. 
The train will then depart to Palitana which is your next destination on this luxury train tour. 

Today have an early breakfast and disembark from the Deccan Odyssey to visit Palitana that is known to be the world’s largest temple complexes. While on your tour, enjoy the beautiful view of the Jain Temples that are delicately carved with marble. Spend your day exploring these significant temples. 
After the temple tour, get back to Deccan Odyssey for lunch. Spend your afternoon on board watching movies, playing carom or just simply relax at the spa. Later in the evening, witness the beautiful rural scene as you sip on sun downer.

Wake up early to the beautiful golden dawn and enjoy early breakfast on board the luxury train. Today, you will be moving to Sasan Gir- the Gir Forest National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary. Get ready to enjoy the engaging game drive in the Gir Forest where you will be accompanied by our guide. If you are lucky, you might see the rare Asian Lion on your game drive tour. Venture deep into the natural habitat of the forest and make the most of the trip. After your guided game drive tour, savour delicious food followed by the tribal dance at the Gateway Hotel. Later return back to Deccan Odyssey and wind up the day with on board dinner. Set off for the Little Rann of Kutch.

Today you will be starting your tour a little early. Have your breakfast on board and later disembark at Viramgam station where you will be picked and transferred into a jeep for enthralling safari at Little Rann of Kutch. Rann of Kutch is known to be the world’s largest salt marsh that is spread over a distance of 7500 sq km. Begin your safari tour at the saline desert and feel the dry air being whipped up on your face. The safari tour will take you across the Wild Ass Sanctuary where you will get an opportunity to spot the ghudkar, or Indian wild ass and other species like the desert fox, jungle cat, jackal and several birds. Make sure to carry a camera so that you can capture the best shot. After your tiring safari tour, relax at the Rann Riders resort and enjoy the delicious Gujarati fare. After scrumptious lunch, take a walk around the resort and spend some time with the Marwari and Kathiawari horses and various other species. Make sure you meet the locals before you depart from the region. You will get a chance to meet the various communities such as Agarias, salt-panners, Rabari tribe and much more. Later proceed to visit the local school where you will be visited by the enthusiastic kids. End your tour with your return back to the Deccan Odyssey for dinner and overnight stay. You will be proceeding to Patan.

Proceed to visit the medieval capital of Gujarat-Patan which is your next stop. Have your breakfast and drive to Sun Temple in Modhera. This well known sandstone temple is dedicated to sun god and was built in the 1th century by the well known Solanki Dynasty. Discover the various carvings and picturesque beauty of the temple and make the most of the trip. After your temple tour, visit the lovely village of Patan where you will be visiting the famous Rani ki Vav. It is a step wall that showcases the fine example of subterranean architecture. While on your way, you will come across delicate cravings and statues of Parvati, Shiva, Vishnu and other gods that have been imprinted into the side walls. Make sure you enjoy some shopping time at Patola where you can shop for Patola sarees. Head back to Deccan Odyssey for lunch. The train will proceed to Nashik and you have the afternoon to yourself. Overnight on board the Deccan Odyssey.

Today, you will be moving towards Nashik that is also known as the wine capital of the country. Head to Pandu Leni after breakfast and explore the ancient Jain and Buddhist cave temples. Later drive to Grover Zampa Vineyards where you will get to taste the exclusive range of wines. Stroll through the lanes of Chenin, Chardonnay and Shiraz grapes and get to learn about the traditional method of making wine. Relax for a while at the Deccan Odyssey. By evening, you will be visiting the Godavari Ghats where you will get to witness the different forms of Hindu religions. Enjoy dinner at the Deccan Odyssey and overnight stay in the train. The train will begin its journey towards Mumbai.
